The Štiavnica Mountains offer ample opportunities for hiking lovers. Several educational trails of various difficulty levels are located just around the corner from the Salamandra Resort. We have chosen the most interesting for you.
Staré mesto trail
What to expect
The oldest settlements in the Banská Štiavnica region, mining history, and incredible landscapes.
The trail takes to you to the ruins of a castle and Bana hamlet atop the Glanzenberg hill, a place known for the oldest opencast mining operations in the Štiavnica Mountains. You will find sheltered rest stops along the trail which offers great vistas and leads you past the remnants of historical stone buildings.
How to access: The first stop point is about 100 m from the Červená studňa bus stop.

Sitno trail
What to expect
You will discover the beauty of the Sitno nature reserve and the history of human settlements in Sitno.
The trail, a partial variant of a green-marked hiking trail that starts from the Počúvadlo lake (Počúvadlianske jazero), begins on a meadow called Tatárska lúka. There are 13 stop points along the trail with information and interesting facts about the nature, culture and history of Sitno.
How to access: The first stop point is located on the Tatárska lúka meadow, approximately 2 km from the Počúvadlo bus stop.

Milan Kapusta trail along Terézia lode
What to expect
The history of mining and valuable natural sites of the central part of the protected landscape area.
The trail will take you to the remaining sites of the oldest mining activities in the area, passing by Ottegrund tajch, the uppermost water reservoir built in the Štiavnica Mountains There are 16 information boards along the route that will give you insights into mining activities and their impact on the landscape.
How to access: The first stop point is about 100 m from the Červená studňa bus stop.

Richňavské jazerá trail
What to expect
Natural and mining sites, including the tajchs of Banská Štiavnica.
The trail partly overlaps with the Milan Kapusta trail. There are 16 stop points with information panels that contain interesting facts about nature, nature protection and conservation, and mining activities in the immediate vicinity of Štiavnické Bane.
How to access: The first stop point is in the Štiavnické Bane village, Horná Roveň, some 500 m from a bus stop.
